Accommodation
At the core of Fairhaven Service’s commitment to ensuring that disability is no boundary, we provide accommodation and care for a number of people with disabilities. In addition, we assist the carers of the region by providing respite accommodation to give carers a break from what is often 24 hour care provision.
Kincumber Lodge
Offering residential placements for approximately sixteen young people and adults with a disability, Kincumber Lodge is staffed by highly trained carers 24 hours a day. With a philosophy of empowering people to reach their full potential and become active in the community, Kincumber Lodge’s residents attend work at one of Fairhaven’s business services or day programs throughout the week and engage in leisure programs on the weekend.
Kincumber Lodge is currently undergoing expansion in order to offer additional respite accommodation. Support is urgently needed in order to fund this important expansion which will reward full-time at home carers with an opportunity to take a break for a day or two from their demanding role looking after people with disabilities.
The atmosphere at Kincumber Lodge is one of family, with many residents having lived with each other for years.
Kincumber Cottage
Kincumber Cottage offers semi-independent accommodation for four residents, with part-time care staff working each weekday evening and some hours on the weekend to oversee cooking and community activities.
Residents of the cottage access the community independently and have a wide and rich social life, dictated by their own likes and dislikes. They are taught life skills in order that in the future, they would perhaps be capable of living independently in the community.
An important aspect of life at Kincumber Cottage is that residents identify their own life goals to staff, who provide guidance and assistance in helping them achieve those goals.
Bream Rd, Ettalong
Fairhaven’s residential site at Ettalong on the Central Coast Peninsula offers independent living for four residents. Drop-in support staff monitor resident’s wellbeing and assist with life skills such as financial management and management of any medical needs.
Residents of Bream Rd, Ettalong attend work at Fairhaven Services’ business services divisions and travel independently to and from work.
